Not long ago, I shared a story with you regarding biking with my family. When I believed that there was no way I could keep up with them going up a particular hill, I simply quit about a third of the way up. When I believed I could actually succeed, I got two thirds of the way up quite easily and then forced myself up the last third, even though it was a killer—when I believed I could succeed, I did! The fact is, self doubt and fears will always get in your way when it comes to reaching your highest potential. This is particularly important to many of us at this time of year as we prepare our children for going back to school. (If you do not have children or grand-children heading back to school, I would still urge you to continue reading this e-mail as I will be covering the implications this has on adults as well.)
InnerTalk for Children
I have been asked many times if InnerTalk programs can be used on children, and my answer is always a resounding yes. InnerTalk works by priming your self-talk—replacing your current self-talk, which is a mirror on your inner beliefs, with the positive affirmations on the particular program, thereby reprogramming your negative, self-limiting beliefs with positive, life-affirming beliefs. You can therefore look at the affirmations for any of our programs and decide for yourself if this kind of thinking would be of benefit to your child.
Eldon and I actually began using InnerTalk programs on our children before they were even born—sometimes I would play pregnancy or stressrelated titles while I was carrying, and at other times I simply played Just for Newborns. I cannot begin to tell you how many people I have spoken to who used Just for Newborns for their children and reported great developmental advantages such as walking and talking early. Some parents also said that it was easier to get their babies to sleep when they played the soothing nature track with the InnerTalk affirmations.
Success
As our children got older, it was very normal for us to reach for an InnerTalk program to assist them whenever they reached a bump in the road, and we even created a special School Phobia program just for our youngest. Our oldest has just graduated from the University of Washington with a double bachelors—one in physics and one in political science! Our youngest son will be a Senior this fall, and he is a straight A student in an academically demanding Preparatory High School where he takes 4 or 5 AP courses each year. I cannot begin to tell you how proud Eldon and I are of our two boys .
While children can use almost any of our InnerTalk programs, we do have a number of programs that were designed specifically for them, such as Successful Children, Positive Interactions for Young People, Stress in School, Respect and Good Manners, I Can: Building a Child’s Self-Esteem, etc. In addition, we have a number of learning programs that can be used by children and adults alike, such as Accelerated Learning, Concentration, Mathematics is Easy, I Am a Great Reader, Powerful Memory, Word Power: Spelling and Vocabulary, Genius Power, etc. We have had a number of people who have attributed their success in passing their BAR exams and GREs to our Excel in Exams program, which was also researched by scientists at Stanford University and found to be effective!
“I bought the recording in the middle of midterms, I listened for approximately four hours before studying and 15 hours while I was studying. The results were impressive. I feel that I was able to accomplish more in a shorter amount of time than I had ever experienced before. My retention was better, my mind was clear and organized. I felt prepared for my midterms. Consequently I was confident and did very well on my tests.”

“I ordered Mathematics Is Easy for my children. Tyler who is 9 years old now went from poor grades in math to excellent grades. Also his teacher made several comments about the dramatic change. I just thought you’d like to know about the difference you have made in my family’s life. Thank you once again.”

Use It or Lose It!
A few years ago, I read a research paper that basically highlighted the ‘use it or lose it’ philosophy. This paper found that age related cognitive decline could be reduced, or even reversed, simply by making the effort to learn new things. Ever since then, I have gone out of my way to continue my own education, from teaching myself to play the guitar and piano, to taking audio courses in creative writing, foreign languages and philosophy. I don’t know about you, but I simply refuse to become the stereotypical old lady who has problems with memory etc. Will you join me by honoring your inner child as well?
Wishing you love, light, and laughter, always!

The Science of InnerTalk
Remember, InnerTalk has been researched at numerous independent universities and institutions (such as Stanford University), and been demonstrated effective at priming how you speak to yourself. When your self-talk changes, so does the reality you experience!
“I bought Successful Children and Genius Learning. Not only is my 5yr old son reading but he’s doing so well in school that he is going to be in Advanced Placement for Gifted kids next year. His teacher recommended him and she says that he’s the smartest kid in his whole class. I am so thankful for your products.”
