A few months ago, Eldon and I went through something that many people rank among life’s most stressful experiences—we moved both our home and our offices.
There were endless decisions to make, endless lists, endless logistics, and of course the delicate chain that comes with selling one property while purchasing another. One delay can affect another and before long the whole process can become incredibly stressful.
And yet something surprised me.
There was almost no friction between us.
That certainly doesn’t mean there were no decisions to make or no work involved, but we both found ourselves stepping forward calmly, adapting quickly, communicating well, and simply getting on with the task at hand. It made me stop and think because if you had asked me years ago whether moving could happen with so little tension, I would probably have laughed.
Was It Luck?
What amazed me even more was how smoothly everything seemed to come together.
We found our new home within days. Our sale and purchase lined up within days. Of course there were little issues along the way—as there always are—but none of them seemed to become major obstacles. One thing resolved and then the next, and before long we found ourselves standing in our new home wondering how everything had come together so smoothly.
At one point I remember thinking to myself: We are being incredibly lucky.
But then another thought followed close behind. Perhaps this wasn’t luck in the way I used to think about it.
Opportunity Still Needs Someone Ready to Receive It
Eldon often says: “Good luck is opportunity meeting preparedness.” The older I get, the more I think there is tremendous wisdom in that statement. You still need opportunities. Life will always involve timing and circumstances that sit outside of our control. But perhaps there are ways to become more available to good fortune when it appears.
When stress is lower, we think more clearly. When self-doubt quiets down, we make better decisions. When we believe that good things are possible, we notice opportunities that otherwise may have passed us by. And when opportunities appear, we are emotionally prepared to move toward them instead of talking ourselves out of them.
That feels a lot like luck to me.
A Luckier Mindset
I also think there is another side to luck that people do not talk about very often.
Some people seem to unknowingly push good fortune away. They hesitate. They question themselves. They expect disappointment. They convince themselves that they are not ready, not deserving, or that things never work out for them anyway.
Then there are people who seem to carry a quiet confidence through life. Not arrogance. Not entitlement. Just a belief that good things are possible. A willingness to prepare. A willingness to act. A willingness to let life surprise them. That mindset changes behavior—and behavior changes outcomes.
Becoming Lucky
That thinking is exactly what inspired our Becoming Lucky album. This collection was created to help support many of the inner qualities that allow people to recognize and make the most of opportunity. Not because life suddenly becomes effortless, but because when your inner world changes, the way you approach the outer world changes too.
Inside are 9 complete programs using multiple technologies including InnerTalk®—our patented and proven subliminal technology designed to transform self-talk from the inside out—as well as OZO, Echo-Tech, and Power Imaging, each approaching change from a slightly different direction. Together the programs work to support qualities such as optimism, confidence, creativity, possibility, resilience, and the belief that life may hold more opportunities than you previously imagined.
Valued at $314.55, the complete Becoming Lucky album is available during this special offer for:
- $99 for downloadable MP3s
- $119 for physical CDs
Perhaps Luck Begins Earlier Than We Think
Maybe luck does not begin when opportunity arrives.
Maybe luck begins much earlier—in the quiet decisions we make every day. In how we think about ourselves. In whether we prepare. In whether we expect disappointment or possibility.
And perhaps, when life finally opens a door, being ready to walk through it is the luckiest thing of all.
Warmly
Ravinder Taylor
