It was not long after our youngest son was born that I started experiencing some strange pains—strange because they would seem to move around! First I thought I had just injured myself as my hip joint hurt, making it hard to walk. A few days later this pain appeared to heal, but then I had a similar pain in another joint. Then, when these pains had gone, I found my entire body feeling very stiff and ache-y, especially in the morning. One day at the mall, I had a friend hold my baby son while I took the pushchair to the car. It was a cold, windy day and I wanted my son to stay nice and warm. I thought it would be better if I got the car and drove it to the entrance of the mall. Unfortunately my wrist joints were painful and I didn’t have the strength to squeeze the buttons necessary to collapse the pushchair. I could do one button at a time using both hands, but I could not do them simultaneously—at least not until I had been working on it for about twenty minutes.
These aches and pains went on for few weeks before I decided that something was wrong and that I should go see a doctor. Not long after that I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and told I would be on meds for the rest of life. When I looked up information on all the RA drugs, I discovered all the side effects. As such, I did not know what would impact the quality of my life the most, the RA or the side effects from the drugs.
In earlier newsletters, I told you that I played Eldon’s Accelerated Healing program every night for 15 months before I managed to cure myself. This is totally true, but it is not the complete story. I therefore thought you might like to know ‘the rest of the story’ to quote Paul Harvey.
The Rest of the Story
The meds I was on brought the RA under control. Although I continued to experience some flare-ups, I was able to continue with my life. Yes, my fingers would sometimes get stuck in weird positions, but I could pull them back where they belonged. I was determined to find a cure for this and I went searching the Internet. I found lots of treatments that supposedly ‘helped’ inflammation etc, but this was not enough for me—I wanted this sickness gone. Quite frankly I could have spent vast sums of money if I had chased every alternative treatment out there.
While I was looking for my cure, I started using every technique already in my arsenal. During Eldon’s weekend workshop in London (when he and I first met), he spent quite a bit of time talking about the mind’s role in health and sickness. He shared stories of clients for whom he had created custom InnerTalk programs, and seen some pretty incredible results. As part of the process for deciding what to put on these custom programs, Eldon would ask for three bits of information:
- The time line of significant events;
- The time line of significant health conditions;
- What the client would have to give up if they became well.
This last one was always the hardest for the clients to answer. How could being sick give them any advantages? However, when they gave this some serious thought and applied some real self-honesty, answers would begin to appear.
Subconscious Programming
There were lots of other aspects to the mind/body connection that Eldon covered during that workshop, including the internal programming that can lead to habituated illnesses such as the seasonal cold, how sickness could be a form of self-punishment or self-sabotage, why some illnesses are just very convenient (for example the singer who loses her voice or the athlete who sprains his ankle) and a whole lot more. He also shared the story about Time and Pomegranates, which I think is one of his most important stories when it comes to the mind body connection, but which is too long to share here. (If you are interested, this story is included in both the Health and Wellness library and in Eldon’s NY Times best-seller, Choices and Illusions).
So, as I said, I took everything that Eldon had taught me and started putting it into practice. I worked on Forgiving and Letting Go (forgiving myself, forgiving others, and allowing myself to be forgiven). I used Eldon’s power imaging program to search for the cause of my problem and to put me on the path to finding the solution. I used a number of programs on self-healing so I could program my subconscious to create health. And of course I did the emotional work, including searching deep within myself to find out why I had chosen to create this illness in the first place—what did I gain by being sick? Quite frankly, I was brutally honest with myself, but I did not have to share the information with anyone else.
A Perspective
Now, before I go much further, I must qualify things a little. This process is not about creating feelings of guilt. Quite frankly, some times bad things do happen to good people. I am not even slightly suggesting that those who suffer brought it upon themselves. However, for myself, I did find this approach empowering. If (and that is a big if) I had created this problem, then I also held the answer. Knowing this certainly gave me hope that I could heal myself.
Fifteen months after my diagnosis, I heard about a supplement that purportedly had an excellent record for curing RA. This supplement was CMO (cerasomal-cis-9-cetyl myristoleate) and was discovered by the late Dr. Sands. I came off my RA meds (something I had tried unsuccessfully to do a number of times before, and I took the supplement—two pills, twice a day for two weeks. One week after I had completed the course, I had a pain in my shoulder joint. I took my RA meds three times (morning, night and morning). The following week, the pain came back so I took the RA meds twice. The following week the pain came back, I took the RA meds once. I have not taken any RA meds since—and that was about 16 years ago!
The Cure
So the big question is, what cured me? Was it the CMO, a beef extract (something I had craved during pregnancy but did not indulge because I am a vegetarian), was it the InnerTalk programs that were reprogramming my mind to expect health, or was it the emotional work I was doing in uncovering my own role in my disease? The fact is, I cannot really know. If it was the CMO, why hasn’t a drug company patented it and eradicated RA? I tend to believe that the emotional work plus the positive programming had put me right on the edge and I just needed some little something extra (Placebo?) to allow the complete expression of self-healing.
Health and Wellness
All of Eldon’s teachings regarding the mind’s role in health are included in his Health and Wellness Library. This library consists of lectures (very similar to the training he gave in the first workshop I attended), OZO Health and Healing, Echo-Tech High Self Esteem, Power Imaging Health and Pain Relief, the InnerTalk programs Self Healing is Natural, Powerful Immune System and Forgiving and Letting Go, and the Video Entrainment DVD Psychoneuroimmunology. P.S. For those interested in exploring CMO further, I do know that I purchased CMO for my pets and did not see the great results. I also know that there are now many knock-off brands of CMO, and as far as I can ascertain, there is only one place to get the CMO that I actually took. If you would like to check it out for yourself, please click here.
P.P.S. If you enjoy these newsletters, please remember to share them with your friends and family. There are easy share buttons at the top of this newsletter. You can also friend Eldon and Me on Facebook as we both love interacting with you all. You can also read (and subscribe to) Eldon’s regular blog here.
