We all go through times when our ‘load’ is particularly heavy and we struggle to keep it together. There are many things that can cause us to feel overwhelmed, ranging from huge workloads and deadlines to caring for children or perhaps a sick relative, from the pressures of school/university to the never-ending housework and repairs that need to be done, etc. When I was younger I used to encourage myself to keep going by planning some kind of treat for myself once the task was completed. However, once I had kids, this tactic could no longer work because it was a 24/7 job that often felt like a 25/8 job! In addition to that, I didn’t even want to think about raising kids as being a task I wanted to put behind me. No, I wanted to enjoy every moment of it and put as much love into the job as I could muster. It took me a little bit of time, but I did eventually find several techniques that I could use without taking any extra time. Today, even though our boys are now young men and no longer put the same time demands on us, I still use the same coping techniques whenever I feel that I am being over worked or over stimulated.
Healing Sleep
I have always considered sleep to be very healing. Physical hurts, sicknesses and emotional pains are frequently better after a good night’s sleep. There are times though, that worry and stress can make it hard to fall asleep—or to get back to sleep when something awakens you during the night. All of this can really compound a problem—rather than the problems diminishing overnight, the sleepless night adds its own stress onto the stress of the day before, and you start the new day from a real disadvantage. Sleep is therefore the most important thing to tend to, particularly in times of stress. I cannot begin to tell you how many times over the past couple of decades that I have pulled out the Sleep Soundly program—playing this quietly in the background while I sleep has always assisted in getting me back into a healthy sleep cycle, and consequently, I do not allow my stress problems to compound themselves. I still cannot get over my recent experience when I was having problems sleeping—I adjusted my speakers so that I could hear the Sleep Soundly program and to my surprise, I literally observed myself turning off that incessant internal chatter and falling asleep!
A Positive Start
Attitude plays a huge role in our ability to juggle stress. When I first started living with Eldon, he was in the habit of putting on an InnerTalk program first thing in the morning. Our favorite program was Optimism Plus and I soon learned that this was a great way to start the day. It always made me feel very light and carefree, and when my day started this way, it would take a lot more to bring me down. Optimism Plus has been my go to ‘positive day’ program for decades but there are also other programs that would fit this category, such as, Have It All, Positive Mental Attitudeand Unlimited Personal Power. (You should check out the sample affirmations and decide for yourself which program would be the best for you). Personally, I really like to play Unlimited Personal Power when I am in the car as it makes me feel that I can achieve anything I want. When you come with an attitude of positive expectation, then the universe works to make it come true!
Daily Grind
Once the workday started, whether it was at home taking care of my young boys, or when I was in the office, I found that the right attitude would again make the day more productive and less tiring/draining. Positive Parenting can really help parents be the kind of parents that they would choose to be (rather than losing it and taking it out on the kids). Joyful Caretaker of Pre-Verbal Children was a special request program that we now also make available, as was Positive Care Giver. The fact is, spending your day taking care of someone else can be really draining and, as much as you may wish to do a good job, sometimes you need some help keeping that positive attitude.
These days, my job brings very different demands. Recently, as I was creating all the pages for our new (and fabulous) InnerTalk shopping cart with all of the new downloadable products, I found myself getting bogged down in elements of the job that were very repetitive. In fact, it was so repetitive and tedious in places that my productivity would really dwindle. That was when I once again pulled out my faithful, Strategic Planning and Peak Performance program. This program has helped me so many times in the past—when there was a job I was procrastinating on, or a job that I really did not want to do at all—and this time it helped me get through a very tedious phase of my project. It was so successful in fact that I achieved more in one afternoon while playing the program than I had in the prior 3 days!
But it could be that your own problems handling work are different. Perhaps you want to look at Joy of Work or Freedom from Burnout. Or maybe you will just prefer playing the general positive attitude programs such as the Optimism Plus, Have It All or Positive Mental Attitude that I mentioned earlier.
Winding Down
Something I discovered when our boys were young was that sleep is no replacement for relaxation. It is important at the end of the day to have some time to wind down—and trust me, hitting the bottle really is not the best solution! Often times though, there is very little time to spend relaxing, so you really need to maximize the time that you have. You cannot slowly unwind from the day and then begin relaxing—you have to reach that relaxation point a lot faster. One of the quickest ways I have found is with our video entrainment programs. I would choose a program such as Accelerated Healing and Pain Relief, Relaxation and Esteem Building, or Successful Children/Family Dynamics and simply play this while fixing myself a cup of tea at the end of the day. It is amazing how quickly I can go from being wound up with jangly nerves, to a place of quiet serenity, and it has a great effect on the rest of the family too. When I cannot play a DVD for whatever reason, then titles such as Serenity, and Relaxation also work really well.
Putting It Together
As you well know, in the real world of responsibilities, the end zone can be a long way in the distance. As such, you really do have to learn to actively enjoy the journey. With Eldon’s InnerTalk technology there is always help at hand. As such, I have not only survived the heavy duty parenting years, but I managed to do so being the kind of parent I wanted to be—mostly! And these days, the same techniques are assisting me as I move into the next phase of my life—a time when I can focus on achieving the rest of my personal goals! Try it for yourself. Stay positive regardless of the stimulation and learn to enjoy the process of life itself!
Wishing you love, light, and laughter, always!

“I just wanted to let you know I’ve been listening to the Millionaire Orbit everyday and evening. One day about two weeks ago my husband surprised me and took me to the Casino which he rarely does. He gave me $20.00 for the slots and I sat at the nickels and within a few minutes I won the three sizzler sevens (Jackpot). We went to the quarter machines and my husband won 600 quarters. In a little while we left with $600.00 in our pockets and only invested $20.00. I don’t want people to think gambling is the way but I realized if you are in a position of gambling in your life and you either have to pick door ‘A’ or ‘B’ after listening to millionaire orbit I believe if given a choice you will pick the right door!”
