IN THIS ISSUE:
The great hope of society is individual character.
~J. H. Vincent
To Thy Own Self Be True
To thy own self be true—what does that mean? Have you ever asked, “Who is my own self?”
Originally this saying was thought to refer to how a human being was made a matter of flesh and bone, appetites, proclivities, fears, and so forth. Today, most tend to think of it as one’s inner desires, beliefs, or more particularly, that quintessential self—the stuff that survives the grave.
What exactly does survive the grave? For many in our modern progressive secular society, there is no such thing as a quintessential self—a surviving personal consciousness that continues beyond death. For them, religion is a “sugar coated neurotic crutch” and the one primary remaining superstition for our society to overcome. Indeed, challenge this perspective and many so-called academics are there immediately to attempt to lay waste to your intelligence and credibility.
I received a marvelous email this past week that expresses many of my feelings on this matter—thank you B.H. Let me share it with you.
“My life's purpose is to be fully present as the clear and awake living one of this personal form of God-- to be fully aware of our destiny is to live the journey of the awakening one-- to stop the denial-- to talk about--to tell others-- to say how we feel --at all costs to tell ourselves this truth--to know without any reflection; that what is so for us, in regard to our understanding of God's will for us . .. is truly what is so for us
We do not need to defend who we are--yet we do need to tell ourselves and those affected what is true for us--what we see and feel
Yes--to be the living awakening one in ourselves--to allow the journey of God to enter and live fully as our very will--and to surrender to this allowance and feel its core movement.”
I do believe that it is incumbent upon each of us to look long and hard within and find out just who resides there. That is why I wrote Mind Programming. Once we truly find our selves, our real self, then it is also incumbent upon us to address what we know with courage and honesty. To fail to do so is to give tacit consent to others to form the world in the image they choose—and that becomes the world we all must live in.
Thank you and enjoy!

The American Happiness Association (AHA!)
New Nonprofit Seeks to Raise People’s Happiness
The American Happiness Association (AHA!) has a big name and a bold mission: to significantly increase the level of enduring happiness worldwide. It provides education and resources to help people learn and practice intentional and sustainable happiness.
All three founders – Dr. Aymee Coget, Sandi Smith, and Bob Nozik, MD -- saw a challenge: so much amazing happiness research that never got out to the public with the exception of the periodic news story that may or may not be all that accurate. Some of the happiness researchers collaborate with others, but there has been no centralized place for all this wonderful life-changing, science-based happiness information. Until now! AHA brings together hundreds of researchers’ results and translates it into tools you can use every day to make your life better.
Why Is an American Happiness Association Necessary?
Happiness is one of the most sought-after experiences in the world. It's also the most misunderstood.
The challenge for most people is discovering they have settled for temporary happiness that doesn't last. Often people pursue things they think will make them happy, but once they get them, they're no happier than before. Why settle for temporary happiness when you can have lasting happiness?
Happiness is abundant, free, fun, unlimited, and available to all. All of us can experience intentional, lasting happiness. AHA shows you how. The resources at AHA are designed to help people learn what happiness is, what it isn't, and how to experience more of it.
The science of happiness is here, and the benefits are huge: happy people have a longer life, better relationships, more success, and improved health, to name a few. AHA brings you 60 years of scientific research along with 2,000 years of wisdom on happiness, distilled into practical steps anyone can take on a daily basis to be happier than they ever thought possible. One of the first things AHA members receive is a 55-page e-booklet on the “Top 10 Happiness Boosters,” full of exercises and tips to boost happiness.
AHA offers three membership options based on level of commitment. AHA helps keep happiness top-of-mind so that happiness becomes a practice. Find out more here: http://www.americanhappiness.org/membership.html
