Volume 3 No. 8 IN THIS ISSUE
This month's testimonial comes from Hampshire, England. “In June 2003 I successfully gave up smoking, thanks to the help of the ‘Stop Smoking' CD from InnerTalk. I have now had a 14 month smoke free life which feels good, to say the least. I am writing to tell you about another complete success with the ‘Powerful Memory' CD. I am a member of a local Amateur Dramatics Group and auditioned for a play that was very challenging, as it required me to be on stage for at least two thirds of the performance, this required me to memorize some very lengthy dialog. As well as a challenge I found the lines quite daunting to memorize. I have an extremely demanding full time job in the week and used to feel very disinclined to start learning lines after a hard days work and at the weekend as I have no one to delegate any household chores or gardening. However, I played the Powerful Memory CD throughout the night, every night on low volume whilst learning my lines, and just wanted you to know how absorbent my mind had become to learning and retaining my lines. It really was quite remarkable Thank you once again InnerTalk—you are helping me so much to reinvent myself. Anne Phipps Featured Article/Review: The Biology of Belief Would you like to reinvent yourself from the DNA up? Seriously—would you truly like a remarkable challenge, something I call the Lipton Challenge, which indeed includes changing physical features of your body? Bruce Lipton is the author of the not yet released new book, The Biology of Belief. Dr. Lipton is a cellular biologist with impeccable credentials including some of the first stem cell research to come out of Stanford University. It's quite possible that your family doctor learned his cellular biology from Bruce Lipton—and Lipton is now telling everyone just how wrong that old cliché, “the DNA causes” is—but I'm getting ahead of myself, so let's back up and look at the Lipton challenge. In Lipton's words: “Are you ready to use your mind to create a life overflowing with health, happiness and love without the aid of genetic engineers and without addicting yourself to drugs? Are you ready to consider an alternate reality to that provided by the medical model of the human body as a biochemical machine? There is nothing to buy and there are no policies to take out. It is just a matter of temporarily suspending archaic beliefs you have acquired from the scientific and media establishments so that you can consider the exciting new awareness offered by leading-edge science. Well, are you ready? Dr. Lipton tells a story in the fashion of the best storytellers that is easy to read and understand. The bottom line essentially proves that the DNA is not in charge, that “it is not gene-directed hormones and neurotransmitters that control our bodies and our minds; our beliefs control our bodies, our minds and thus our lives.” (Lipton 2005) In my opinion, this is an absolute must read book! I am fortunate to have several collateral manuscripts, research articles, and even new books not yet in the English language in my hands, and they all say, “Mind is where it's at!” Hard research, undeniable evidence—you are not limited by the old mechanistic models. With that said, Lipton's book is clearly the most readable and thorough presentation out there. I received a prepublication review copy of Lipton's new book, The Biology of Belief. After reading the book, I phoned the publisher. The book is set for release in late April or early May. They are just now shipping to the major wholesalers who will in turn announce and eventually ship to your local bookseller. I made special arrangements with the publisher, Elite Books, to obtain advance copies of the finished book. The book sells for $25 and is 224 pages of packed material you do not want to miss. If I could afford to give this book to everyone, I would because I think it is that important. What I did arrange was a special discount. You can order the book, while our quantities last, and take a 45% discount from its list price. The cost then to you is $13.75. For this special offer we will ship the book to you confirmation mail for another $4. Net cost in your hands to you, $17.75. Our calculations indicate that we lose some on this, but I really do want you to have and read this book. The book will not be on our website or in our catalog until after its May release, so to order it you must phone our toll free number: 1-800-964-3551 or email a request with your phone number in it so that we may phone you. Of course, you can always add it to your order on our web site by simply putting the title of the book in the comments area of your next order. If you choose to do this, your freight will be calculated according to your order total, and indeed there may be no additional cost added to the price of the book for freight. This offer is only good for as long as quantities last and/or until April 15th, 2005. Thanks and I wish you only the best! Eldon Kids' IQ Boost According to the findings of researcher Andreas Demetriou of the University of Cyprus in Nicosia, Chinese children score better on IQ tests by an average of 5 points due in large to the fact that their picture symbol system consisting of 2500 pictorial symbols is a much more powerful learning stimulus than that provided by an alphabet based language. According to Demetriou, “Our findings support the assumption that reading and writing systems are powerful methods influencing the development of mental abilities, and perhaps brain growth, in individuals and cultures.” If you're not Chinese, perhaps you should get out all those old puzzles and begin building them again, for the association has to do with recognition. (Bower 2005) Keeping Fuzzy Thinking Away According to Francine Grodstein of Harvard Medical School, a drink a day might keep the fuzziness away. “One alcoholic drink a day—beer, wine, or liquor—can stave off mental decline at least a little bit.” (Seppa 2005) “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle and the other is as though everything is a miracle.” References
